Saturday Youth Program with Milwaukee Repertory Theater

In partnership with Milwaukee Recreation, Milwaukee Repertory Theater is proud to offer FREE "Drama FUN-damentals" workshops on Saturdays this spring! 

"Drama FUN-damentals" introduces students to the basics of theater and acting through games, activities, and performance opportunities, while building on their skills of cooperation, concentration and creativity. Classes offered: Reader's Theater - Calling all book lovers! Bring your favorite books to life through acting, art and more; Play On! - Explore the world of theater through skill-building games. Perfect for acting beginners! 

This 8-week series of drama-filled fun will take place every Saturday from April 13-June 8, 2024 (no class May 25 to observe Memorial Day). Milwaukee Zine Fest Presented by The Bindery & MPL

Founded in 2008, Milwaukee Zine Fest (MZF) is an annual explosion of zine-focused wonder in the form of a boisterous festival featuring over 100 vendors from across the country.  It's always free to attend, and always super fun for all ages. The single day event is held at the Milwaukee Central Library, and packed with opportunities to explore and purchase various forms of DIY and independent publishing presented by diverse artists, writers, illustrators, photographers, poets--and more! The festival also features hands on experiences and workshops throughout the day.  Stop by to test a typewriter, make a letterpress print, construct a flipbook, or learn about zine culture, history, and social impact. MZF is a program of The Bindery in partnership with The Milwaukee Public Library. The Bindery runs additional zine programming year 'round including a collective zine publishing house and communal retail for zinesters.

Wickcliffe and his Famous Ginger Jazz Band played at the Schlitz Palm Garden in the late 1910s, Milwaukee has had a small, but vibrant jazz community. This talk discusses some of the principle figures and venues that have contributed to the rich history of Milwaukee’s jazz scene and how that scene fits in to the national context.  Presented by the Milwaukee County Historical Society.

Start a new project or bring one in progress and come work on it in community. We welcome knitting, crochet, tatting, sewing, mending or other fiber-related projects. Fiber Artist Ruth Shank will be on hand every second Monday to help with getting you started on something new, provide technical advice on a project-in-progress or simply visit. Some supplies on hand for new knitters (basic knowledge is assumed), but feel free to bring your own if you have them.
