Novel Ideas Book Club

6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Zablocki Branch
Community Room
Please join us for a discussion of What Strange Paradise by Omar El Akkad. A boat is shipwrecked off a small Greek island fleeing from Syria. All 100+ passengers are dead with the exception of one small boy, Amir, who is 9 years old. When he awakes on the beach, he runs from the military and is found by a 14 year old Vanna, who wants to see him to safety.  This is the story of our collective moment in this time: of empathy and indifference, of hope and despair--and of the way each of those things can blind us to reality, or guide us to a better one"-- Provided by publisher.

Note: This program will be offered at the Zablocki Library and offered virtually through Zoom.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the discussion.
