This interactive storytelling session or “StoryShare” is an affinity space created for and led by Deaf community members. Join coaches Brian and Melani as they guide participants through fun activities designed to help you identify powerful personal stories, learn effective storytelling skills, and connect with other storytellers! You’ll also learn about opportunities to share a story on stage at Wisconsin’s fifth annual Deaf StorySlam on April 11th, 2024!
This project is possible thanks to Bader Philanthropies, Inc., Wispact, Milwaukee Public Library Foundation, Network Health, Ex Fabula members, and Ex Fabula’s Deaf storytelling coaches.
(re) Visions: words into pictures, pictures into words is the collaborative work of Karen Peugh, photographer, and CJ Muchhala, poet. In this exhibit of 11 photographs and 10 poems, the photographs paired with poems are not meant to be illustrative, just as the poems written in response to the photographs are not intended to be descriptive. The intent is to explore the intersection of visual and literary art, and to expand the meaning of both images and words on a variety of subjects, from humans’ interactions with Lake Michigan and a child’s view of her grandmother, to pinned fabric pieces and found sidewalk art.
